Vision is a word picture of who we want to be as a community. The following word picture describes the kind of community of God’s people we aspire to be. All churches have two key tasks, to share the gospel with everyone it is privileged to encounter and to disciple followers of Jesus in their faith and walk with God so they are released effectively into His service wherever He leads them. My heart is for a church filled with passionate believers who put God’s calling and the transformational work of the Holy Spirit at the centre of their lives and are prepared to sacrifice their comforts for God’s Kingdom. A church that loves its community and demonstrates that love by learning its needs and helping to meet them so they may hear the good news about Jesus. More specifically: · I see a church that recognises every person as made in the image of God and honours them accordingly. That is able to see the individual beyond their behaviour and life circumstances and seeks to view them as God does, a precious and unique individual created by Him for a unique purpose. · I see a church that is filled with passion for Jesus and a desire to worship Him, who is open to the transformational work of the Holy Spirit in everyday life and who puts God in His rightful place in their own lives. · I see a church where a person is able to receive the love and care of Jesus through the work Citywest does with the local community, where that person is able to learn and grow to a point where they not only fall in love with Jesus and embark on the adventure of being His disciple but where they are also sent out from Citywest to lead and contribute to the Kingdom of God wherever they may be called. I see a church that is shaped by the people God calls to it, that is permission giving rather than permission withholding, which allows people to explore God’s calling on their lives and equips them to do it.
To share Jesus everywhere He sends us, as we live in relationship with Him.
