Serving Team Descriptions

Service Team

The service team’s role is to serve people during our Sunday services and help everyone to have a good experience at church: making sure the service hall is ready for the service, opening the doors, directing and helping people to find their seats, collecting the offering containers (not during Covid), serving the communion emblems (not during Covid).

Worship Team

The worship team is the band and singers that lead us in worshipping God during each Sunday service. They have regular rehearsals in preparation for Sundays. The worship team also take part in performing items for special events.

Production Team

The production team oversee the sound, lighting, slides, video, and multi-media display, and multi-tracks using the Playback App. They serve on Sunday and at special events. If you like the technical side of things, the production team is for you. 

Set-up team

The set-up team are the heroes who arrive early and open up our venue every Sunday. They work with all the various teams to ensure that everything is set up on time for our Sunday service. 

Pack-down team

The packdown team stay behind after each Sunday service to make sure all our equipment is packed down and packed away correctly. They make sure the Sunday venue is clean and tidy, and are responsible for locking up.

Citywest Kids Team

The Citywest Kids Team have one of the most important roles there is: raising the next generation champions! The Kids Team plan and run our Sunday Kids Program, ensuring the safety and discipleship of kids from 1 year old – upto grade 6 primary school.

Hospitality Team 

(Limited during Covid)

The hospitality team prepare and serve the morning tea for Sunday services (not during Covid), and also help to cater food for special events. 

Welcome Team

The welcome team have the very important role of making people feel welcome when they arrive at church. They create a sense of “Welcome Home” by greeting people in the carpark, and at the venue door, with warm smiles and friendly greetings. They help direct people where to go, and are in charge of displaying all the church signage. We are a friendly church and always want to do our best to make people feel welcome at church.

Salvation Follow-up Team

In every Sunday service, we give an opportunity for people to respond to Jesus. The Salvation Follow Up team have the very important role of talking to anyone who responds for salvation, giving them a Bible, praying with them, and helping them to take their next step in following Jesus. 

Next Steps Team

The Next Steps Team serve at the Next Steps Table after the Sunday Service. At the Next Steps table people can find information about how to take their Next Step in following Jesus, such as: getting a Bible, joining a Bible Connect Group or Community Group, getting baptised, joining a serving team, registering for an event, and finding information about child dedications etc.

Covid-safe Team 

The Covid Safe Team stay up-to-date with the latest government regulations surrounding Covid-19, updating our Covid-Safe Plan, and implementing it across the entire church. The Covid-safe team ensure that we are implementing all Covid-safe measures in our gatherings, and doing everything we can to make church a safe place for everyone.

Events Planning Team

The Events Planning Team work in collaboration with other teams to organise all our major special events, from conferences to Christmas, and everything in between. If you love event planning and management then this team is for you!

Set-design / Decoration Team

The Set-design & Decoration Team work to create whatever decorative design is needed for special events, such as Christmas or conferences. They also create sets for videos or online church streaming when necessary. They use their interior decorative skills to create a great environment at all church gatherings and at our Horizon Community Centre. 

Performing Arts Team

The performing arts team create and choreograph performances for special events, such as Christmas and Easter. We need people who can write scripts, direct plays or dramas, act, dance, and perform. Use your creative gifts to serve the local church.

Citywest Youth Team

Youth runs every Friday night during school terms, for school years 5-8. There are also youth connect groups that run during the week. If you love working with young people, then why not become a youth leader and invest into the next generation.

Citywest Young Adults Team

Young Adults gather every Sunday night for dinner in locations around Western Sydney. The young adult team helps to organise hangouts and connect with people. They also help to support our Bible based connect groups that run on Sunday afternoons. Come and help us to build a great young adults ministry!

Office Administration Team

Do you love administration, details, organisation, and planning? Are you skilled at working with computers? We need volunteers to join our administration team, and help us during the week in our offices at Horizon Community Centre. There is also lots of administrative tasks that can be done from home. The administration team will be responsible for things like typing up documents, church signage, ordering church supplies, inputting rosters, sending out emails to volunteers, helping with event planning, as well as other administrative work for Horizon Community Centre.

Cleaning and Maintenance Team

Do you love offering practical help? We need people who like to clean and organise, or are good at fixing things and doing various handyman tasks. The cleaning and maintenance take care of our premises at Horizon Community Centre, keeping them in working and functioning order. 

Prayer Team

We believe in the power of prayer! The prayer team meet weekly (in person or on zoom) to pray for any prayer requests that people in the church have. They also help to carry the spiritual weight of the church in prayer – praying for the leadership team, the church finances, and for God to move in our city. The prayer team also join in our weekly Zoom prayer meeting on Wednesday nights. 

Pastoral Care Team

Do you love helping people in a time of need? The pastoral care team respond to the needs of people in our church by helping or assiting in practical ways, such as providing meals or care pakages, visiting sick people in hospital, visiting new mums etc. In times of crisis, the pastoral care team will work with pastors or chaplains to assist people in any way we can, and help people to find the professional help they need. 

Graphic Design Team

The graphic design team create all the images and graphics for the Sunday slides, the website, and all our social media platforms, as well as designing any print media we want to produce such as event flyers. If you love creating and designing, and are skilled with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, or design apps such as Canva, we need your help! If you are interested in graphic design but are not yet trained in these programs, we can help to train you! 

Photography Team

The photography team take photos on Sundays at our services, and at other church events, for use on our website and social media platforms. If you enjoy photography and photo editing this team is for you!

Social Media Team

Social media platforms are a powerful tool to communicate with people, promote and share information, and engage with people. The social media team are responsible for posting regular updates and information, as well as engaging audiences through creative use of photos, images, gifs, and story functions. At times we will also use social media platforms for various live streaming activities. If you love using social media platforms, and have a passion to engage with people through social media, then come and be part of the social media team.

Website Development Team

The website development team use HTML coding to maintain and develop the WordPress interface design of our Citywest Church and Horizon Community Centre websites. As well as completing regular website optimization audits to ensure our websites are SEO friendly. If you are HTML and WordPress literate, then why not use your skills to serve in the website development team. 

Website Content Team

Do you enjoy creative writing and copywriting? Do you know how to use a basic WordPress content platform? The website content team are responsible for regularly updating the images and copywriting content on our websites, such as updating Sunday service information, adding new event information, and posting new blog posts.

Health and Safety Team

The health and safety team is essential to the church functioning in compliance with all NSW and Federal government laws and regulations. This team works together, following our health and saftey policies, to ensure the health and saftey of everyone in our church and wider community. They create risk assessments for all our church venues and premises, and different church activities and events that we hold. If you have a strong attention to detail, and enjoy policy writing and risk assessment, then we need you!
